OK i was thinking about getting a lovebird and i need to know a few things overall are they good pets??? Second do they like to cuddle and whats better a male or a female???Third thing is do they bite often??? And last what do you look for in a good lovebird???

Answer
Hello, You need to find a good breeder and buy the lovebird right after it is finished being Handfed..parent raised lovies make poorer pets. Ahandfed baby will bond with you very easily and will be very loving and friendly rarely biting. Even handfed lovies from Petshops are bitey most of the time this is because they have been weaend sent there and not handled...buying from a good breeder will make for a loving pet. Males are better in my mind as they don't start laying eggs cronicly when they are matured as most hens do and the hens get really nippy at this time. I think they make great pets and they are Very smart little birds smarter then cockatiels or budgies I've noticed. You will be looknig for clear bright eyes, no poop stuck on bottom..no nasil discharge and no discharge from the eyes and in a baby you will see slick ncie tight feathers...as they havent been bothered with a moult yet so there feathers should be nice and sleek and not very ruffled and out of place.
