Question
It probably doesn't matter about the bird species, but when I was rubbing my finger against my parakeets belly, I noticed that she was breathing fast. That was the first time she has ever let me rub her belly, but I noticed her breathing fast when I walked in the room. She usually starts singing when she sees me, but all she did was breathe fast. At least she let me rub her belly right? Do you think she's sick?

Answer
Hi Hannah,

If she is breathing fast all the time and stopped singing, then go to a vet as there may be an infection of psittacosis or something.

She may have just had a flap about and been catching her breath. She wont sing if that is the case too.

Its hard to tell what's wrong out of context and after just one incident.
