QuestionA mama duck laid 11 eggs outside our window. We have a lot of mulch and she would cover the nest when she left for a few hours. Yesterday and this morning we saw ducklings with her in the next. This afternoon she and and the ducklings are gone but there are a few eggs left (I am not sure how many since I did not want to disturb the nest and there is some mulch on them). I am afraid since she is now caring for ducklings (the mate has been around also) that these eggs have been abandoned. Should I try to hatch / incubate them? What do I do with them if that is possible?
AnswerIf a parent duck doesn't return soon yes I would try to hatch or incubate them because if they don't get incubated for 24-48 hours it's too late.
This site gives good tips on how to hatch them.
