My elderly parent's parakee (has mate)laid 3 eggs.  What do we do?  Can they be saved?

Answer
Hi, Abby.  Thanks for posting!

Please read the information on my website and then come back with any questions you might have.

Parakeets usually lay about 6 eggs, so more may be on the way!  Did they lay on the cage bottom or in a nesting box?  The parents will take care of the babies, but you need to decide what you're going to do with any babies after they wean, i.e., are you going to keep them, give them away, sell them?  If so, they will need to be tame, which means you need to handfeed the babies...information is on my website.  If you don't pull them when they are about 10 days old and handfeed them, they won't be tame enough to handle, give away, or sell.
