catching a runaway horse

Question
hello ma'am, today i had been to racecourse. all of a sudden, a horse got loose on the track and ran off. can you give me few simple tricks on catching that loose horse?

i felt so pity when the horse was running on tarmac road laid at the backyard. it was hitting the ground harder. i started making "kissing" sounds to distract its attention to me, but no use of it. that horse returned to the track again galloping. i used the track of waving with both my hands as if stopping, and told
"whoa . . . ". the horse came galloping 5m to 6m facing me, suddenly stopped and them turned its direction. i was a bit frightened that it would kick me. at last it was caught.

Answer
Hello,

One thing not to do if a horse is loose is to chase it. It will just run faster to escape you.
If it is in a fenced-in area, where it cannot get badly hurt by an automobile or unsafe objects, you can try different things, although the situation that you describe sounds really dangerous.

If the horse is badly frightened, about the best you can do is to remain calm and if he is dashing about and could get hurt, at least try to head him off. BE VERY CAREFUL! It would be easy to get kicked or run over. NEVER stand in front of the horse and expect him to stop. He is not acting rationally.

When he starts to tire and calm down, you can try food. Do not look directly at him. Almost act as though you do not care if he comes to you or not. Have "soft" eyes. I have even turned my back and walked away and he followed me. But this is after he is calming down. If he is a real runaway the most you can do is to keep him and other people safe until he is ready to be caught.
