QuestionI have a 8 month old colt that is a quarter horse. I was working with her yesterday and noticed that when she walked her back right ankle popped i can not hear it pop, but can see the popping in her ankle. She does not act like it bothers her but I don't want to make her run if it could damage her later on, She runs, and plays with the other horses, should I be concerned. Thank You, Tina
AnswerTina,
It sounds like it may be a locked stifle issue. This problem can be easily maintained, and possibly surgically corrected if it becaomes a problem. But call the vet and have your vet look at it and maybe take some x-rays to confirm that. I wouldn't work her too hard, she is only 8 months old. Definately have the vet out, and he'll be able to tell you or advise you on a course of action as far as working her and the possibility of damaging the leg.
I hope this helps, please let me know if I can help with anything else.
