barn management

Question
My daughter is currently managing a 17 stall barn. I am trying to find a way to make the morning stall mucking more efficient so they have time for other things.  They use straw for bedding and clean the stalls every morning. The muck from one stall more than fills a wheelbarrow. It is taken to one end of the barn and thrown into a dump trailer. After the stalls are clean, the trailer is emptied about a quarter mile from the barn. A great deal of time is spent walking from each stall to the trailer with each wheelbarrow load. If bigger wheeled containers are used to collect the muck, not as many trips have to be made, but they are too heavy to dump into the trailer. Therefore, an equal amount of time has to be spent forking the material from the container to the trailer. The dump trailer is large and heavy enough to require a pick-up to maneuver it. This combo will not fit in the aisles between the stalls, so leaving it at the end of the barn is the only choice. Are you aware of any material handling equipment that might be employed to streamline this process, given the parameters?  Thank you very much for your time and help.

Answer
Dear Chuck,

Quite honestly all I can say is welcome to the world of mucking. I have my main barn, a shed row of stalls and the riding rings to muck and I walk miles. all I can say is be thankful for all the muscle and strength your daughter is gaining and the time spent in the barn instead of places you might not want to see her. Just know we are all in the same boat in this world of stall mucking.
