Question
Hi Sarah!
My question is... I have to take care of two beautiful and healthy 5 and 7 year old horses. One is a "Paso Fino" and the other a "Colombiano". The thing is that I want to know ...how much grain should I give them per day? Again...this is taking the fact that they are pretty healthy. I don't want to give them the wrong amount. Please let me know.
Thank you so much
Gabriel

Answer
How much grain they should get depends on their activity level, other food provided (hay, grass, etc), and their individual metabolisms.  Assuming they are exercised for 20-40min a few times a week, that they are turned out in a grass paddock daily, and are provided hay periodically while in their stalls, you could try starting them out at 3/4 scoop of grain twice a day.  If in a week you notice weight gain or loss, then GRADUALLY adjust the grain portion accordingly.
