Okay To Simply Stop Daily Dewormer?

21 9:29:00

Question
Four years or so ago when I generally had more confidence in vets, and in particular before I recognized some of the more critical limitations of the vet I was then using, I switched my horse to the daily dewormer Strongid C 2X at my wife's urging and my vet's recommendation. My wife has now decided to take her horse off Strongid C 2X and go back to regular paste wormers largely for economical reasons and has asked me if I want to switch back too, and I'm wondering if there are any consequences of suddenly stopping Strongid C 2X, or steps/precautions one need take to best do so. Can you offer any advice?

Answer
hi evan,
dont worry, switching wormers will not harm our horse. you actually want to rotate your wormer every other month or so because the worms can get immune to one type of wormer and it wont work as well. i would start your horses out with ivermectin then go to zimecterin. so don't worry your horses will be perfectly fine. if you have any other questions just let me know.
happy trails to you
