gate training racehorses

hello madam, what are the uses of gate training racehorses? what more do horses learn apart from learning jump outs?? madam, at our racetracks, gate training is at short distances like 6fur and 5 fur for every horse though is he's a sprinter, long distance runner or a stayer since we have gate training twice a week. may i know why only short distances??

gate training teaches them to remain calm in the gate. the distance is shorter because you are not training on the horses fitness. you are teaching him to go out of the gate in a straight line. it is very important. a horse that will not break from the gate straight will go into another horse and cause an accident.
