turtles sleeping

Question
this is kinda stupid but is it ok for my baby red eared sliders to sleep underwater because my adult one doesnt and they have a place to bask so they dont have to be underwater?

It is not a stupid question but the answer is yes, it is OK if your turtle sleeps underwater. Most turtles do it to feel more safe and secure. Maybe your adult already feels secure where he/she is. But he/she will wake up a few times a night and get air. But they can hold their breathe for long periods of time.
