Question
Hello my name is Carissa. My 3 toes turtle is Dorothy. She was given to me when she was 29 and is now 32. She has recently lost her bottom beak and i took her to the vet and found out we were not feeding her probley and we changed her diet. She seems happier and want out of her tank more she begs to get out it is so cute. But to my question. Her beak is turning a peach color and it just has been in the last couple day. I was wondering if you had any ideas to why it would be doing that.
Thanks alot
Carissa.

Answer
Hi Carissa,

You need to call your vet and talk to him or her about the peach color.  I can't diagnose medical conditions.

If she is trying to get out of her tank, there is something wrong with her environment.  Her tank may be too small.

You'll need to read a lot about her care:

One thing you've had to learn the hard way: box turtles have to be examined carefully because their metabolisms are so slow that by the time a problem is discovered, it can take a long time to correct it.  They are exotic pets and require specialized care.

It's good that you are learning to communicate with your turtle... she definately needs something.
