QUESTION: laurie!!!i failed her i faliled her i failed her!
shes DEAD!!!!!!! i didnt mean to touch her a lot i was just excited and she died yesterday she cudnt sleep soundly sshe kept on moving around lyk she cudnt breathe. i miss her so much i dint want her to die! i loved her so much

ANSWER: Dear Petra:

I am so sorry for you.  I know that you tried to find out everything to do right and you tried to help this little baby.  This did not happen from touching her too much or holding her too much or from loving her too much.  You are the victim of someone who pulled this baby away from it's mother too soon!  Whoever did that should be ashamed.  I do not know how old she was, a vet would have been able to tell you and might have been able to help like I suggested before.  Babies continue to nurse from their mothers for 6-9 months after they come out of pouch, while it is safe to separate them at 8 weeks out of pouch, no one should have pulled her away from her mother before that.  I know you tried.  Be comforted that she is at peace and was not alone at the end.  Again, I am sorry.

I Petra promise and vow with the sugar gliders that I Petra will take good care of my new sugar glider. I will not hurt her, make her sad, yell at her, and upset her.  I will do my very best to keep her alive, happy and make her stay with me for ever and ever.  I will protect her from  any danger with my life .I will not make the same mistakes as I did for the last two sugar gliders, Lucky(I hope you are safe I am so truly sorry for leaving you on your own so that you now escaped, have a good life with your new friends I hope you will come back to me one day, I really miss and love you lucky, really. ) and Midnight( Midnight forgive me for not looking after you properly and may you rest in peace, I will always love and remember you). I will always keep an eye on her whenever I take her out of her cage .I will play with her until her heart is full of joy, I will love her with all my heart, I will never ever hurt her .If I fail I will not get another sugar glider and I will burn this contract. If I fail, please forgive me.  I know I tried my best. I swear.

Dear Petra:  

I'm sorry this happened.  That is a very nice contract.  Perhaps you want to hold off on sugar gliders for a while.  Let your heart heal.  Take some time to grieve for your losses.  Sugar gliders are not easy pets to take care of.  I never recommend that sugar gliders be pets for young people.  They require a commitment to expensive veterinary care and a lot of research.  Go ahead and check out some of the links to sites I gave you before and research and research some more.  Find a local vet that you can trust can take care of sugar gliders.  Sugar gliders cannot wait until tomorrow to see if they will get better.  Once they exhibit signs of a problem, then it can be very quick before they crash.  When you are better able to commit to veterinary care if needed, then try again.  Better not to jump in to another right away.
