Question
Betty,
It's me again. Thank you so much for not turning me away with my ridiculous worries. The last time I wrote to you, I was torn between keeping or selling my gliders. Well, after 3 weeks on Craigslist, I hadn't heard anything and I resigned to make a fresh start to be a better parent. But Sunday a couple contacted me because they had two gliders, 1 for 8 years and 1 for 6. The 8 year old recently died and they've been looking for a friend for their lonely suggie. Anyway, the point is in my gut I know they are kind people (they don't want their suggie to be lonely), they have glider experience (8 years), and commited (they live 3 hours away and are willing to drive 6 hours round trip for pick up). I couldn't ask for a more ideal candidate and I know God answered my humble prayers. But Betty, I feel so guilty. And I am so worried about how they will adjust. I'm worried about them being stressed out in their new environment far away. The new mom tells me about how she takes her suggie everywhere and honestly, I rarely play with mine. They are both tame, sweet girls, how will I know they will have the good life they deserve? Thank you Betty! God bless you.

Answer
Priscila,

Are the people taking both gliders?  If so, they seem like the perfect people to adopt your babies.  They have the experience, and after caring for gliders for so long, they want to love some more.  I don't think you have anything to worry about.  Tell them how much you care for your girls, and ask them to keep in touch with you to let you know how they are doing. Tell them that if things don't go well, you want them to bring the gliders back to you.

Your babies should adjust quickly.  If they are hand-tamed, they like humans, and will become bonded with their new parents in no time.  It may take some time for them to get used the new glider.  Ask the new parents how they plan to introduce them.  Let me know if they need suggestions.

It is very unselfish of you to let them go, and I am sure they will be happy in their new home.  I hope this helps.  Good luck to you and your gliders.
