Adoption

Hello,
 I am going to adopt a two sugar gliders but as I was reading there may be a possibility that I could adopt older sugar gliders.  Do you know of a rescue?  I am absoutley open to rescue adoption as apposed to new babies since they live a long life and need homes also if not I am happy to adopt joeys.

Hi Lori,

Where do you live?  All I can suggest is Craigslist, or do a search for sugar glider classifieds, like hoobly.com.

If you get rescues, be sure to handle them before you commit to taking them.  If they are hand tame, fine, otherwise be prepared to spend time with the bonding process.  This process usually only takes a couple of weeks, but if the gliders have been mishandled, it could take months. It is worth the time, though, to gain the trust of a creature who would otherwise be miserable.
