Question
I have had Squirt, my unfixed male since Oct. of 2011. One week ago today I introduced him to a female named Daisy. On Monday evening they were doing so well I went ahead and put them in the large cage together. Daisy's oop date is Jan. so she is about 7-8 months oop. The family that had Daisy was wonderful with her because when I got her she was the sweetest and most tame glider I have ever seen in my life. You can pick her up and take her anywhere. Actually, anyone can pick her up. She is scared of nothing and loves to play and jump around. We got her because we were having a hard time getting Squirt to "open up". He trusted me somewhat and we were making progress, slowly. I thought he would love a mate for when I couldn't play with him. So here came Daisy, and like I said they were and still are doing amazing together. They are in love!!! I  have taken them out together and played with them every night since Monday night. Well, today I go to get them and put them in the bonding pouch and things were okay. I had the zipper open for them to go in and out as they please while I walk around the house. Things were fine then all of a sudden Daisy went crazy!! She did not just bite me, because I know how to "take the bite".  She literally started attacking me!! She was lunging for me, then holding on to me and repeatedly biting and biting me. Not the normal leave me alone nibble. She drew blood. I kept trying to put her back in the cage, but she wouldn't stop. She kept coming back for more. Again, I can take a bite, but this was not the normal bite. I was being attacked. As a human, my reflex reaction was to scream. My fiance ran and got gloves and got her off of me. Then I was trying to talk to her and calm her through the cage and she was trying to grab my fingers and bite me through the cage. Everywhere I would touch she would lung to and start biting through the bars and crabbing. Poor Squirt was scared of my scream and hid in a nearby bag. I finally got them both in the cage and just left them alone. I feel like we were making so much progress and now we took 10 steps back. I am worried that Squirt is traumatized and that Daisy hates me. I don't know what I did wrong?? We considered that she could be pregnant, but I did not know that would come along with the pregnancy. Does this happen with pregnancy? What are your thoughts and advice? If this is how Daisy is pregnant, then Squirt is getting neutered ASAP!!!!

Answer
Hmm.. It is a tough call.. pregnancy changes some of my gliders demeanor.. some are not as social as they usually are,.. some are down right aggressive and cage defensive.. so that is a real possibility.. but other than that scenario I have never dealt w/ a mood change quite like that.. has the diet been tampered wit at all..?? If gliders do not have the proper ratio of calcium and multivitamins that can cause not only health but also behavioral issues.. You might also consider any other new changes to the household.. perhaps Daisy saw a predator out of the window or something that scared her.. I would continue your usually routine and try not to show any fear.. Let me know what the outcome is when you get there..
