corn snake belly scales

Hi I've noticed recently that my corn snake's belly scales are getting small cracks in them and when he moved over my hand it kinda sounds like when you run your hand over lamanation that has started to peel off a page. They have also started to peel in the area where they merge with the othere scales. The rest of his body looks healthy, he's eating fine and moving around the same. am i being paranoid or is this a serious problem?

It's hard to say without being able to see it. Could it be leftover from his last shed? If so then a damp hide box might help it out. If not, is there a chance that the mulch in your cage is too damp? If neither of these seem to be the case then I would consider taking the snake to see a vet.
