QuestionMY 6 FOOT RED TAIL BOA HAS REFUSED FOOD NOW FOR OVER A MONTH SHE HAS NEVER GONE PAST 3 WEEKS SHE IS A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED AT THIS POINT
AnswerHi Chris
No need to worry....it is very common during the winter months for snakes to go into hibernation (AKA: Brumation)
Their activity will slow down as well as their appetite and shedding intervals. I have a couple of snakes that have gone as long as 4+ months w/o food during winter. As the weather warms up they will become more active and regular eating will resume. Just keep doing what your doing and provide adequate heat and water. Offer food again in another week or so. If she still doesn't eat don't worry. She will eventually when she comes out of her winter cool down. Hope this helped and thanks for writing :-)
