Boa snake

Question
I have a columbian rainbow boa that is approximently 4- 4 1/2 feet long. She has never had problems eating and she's refused to eat for about 3 1/2 weeks. I've had her for a year and several months and this is the first time she's been refusing to eat. I feed her three dead rats every 10 day. Should i try to feed her live rats? If not then I am going to take her to a vet. Thank you.

Answer
Nick,

One of the top reasons a snake may not be eating is sickness. Check your snake for mites, they should be easily visible on and under her scales if she has them. Also, do you feed her in her cage or out? IF you normally feed your snake in its enclosure, try feeding it outside in a large container to change things up. And yes, a live rat would be a thing to try as the change may peak the snake's interest. Let me know what happens so I can help further if needed.
