QuestionQUESTION: i have two brown basilisk. i have them in different enclosures. i know the one is a male but i don't know what the other one is. can you tell me how to tell male from female. i have researched the net and almost every where i have looked has been different.
ANSWER: If the animals are adults, it should be no problem.
Males have a large casque on their head, females just a small one.
Juveniles cannot be sexed other than by probing (using sexing probes), which should only be done by someone with plenty of experience. It's best just to wait.

QUESTION: how do i tell if its a juvenile. it is about a foot and a half long. the males body, head, and claque is a lot larger than the other one.its nose is longer to.
AnswerThey are 2 to 3 feet as adults, so sounds like they're not quite fully grown. If both of them are the same size, and the male clearly has a casque developing, while the other one does not, there's a good chance that the one without the casque is female. If the one without the casque is smaller, you may have to wait to be sure.
