QuestionI have just trapped a snake from our back yard but was much more careful with this one as I havn't seen the coloring before. It has similar markings to normal garter snakes except instead of two yellowish stripes down the back it had one orange stripe. It also had a black tipped toung and an almost triangle head. I dont know the type and before we release it at the park (my dad is scared to death of them) I wanted to make sure it was not poisonous. Please respond asap.
Thank you, Jessica
AnswerHi Jessica,
if you have a digital cam could you take a pic and send it to me at steffntom@optonline.net and ill let ya know for sure what it is it is true that most snakes with a viper shaped head could be poisinouse it may just be a ribbon or garter garters can have yellow - red or redish orange stripes, but use caution and if you can i would take him or her to a nice wooded erea and term em loose. let me know and thanks
