MATING AFRICAN FAT TAIL S

I HAVE A MALE FAT TAIL APRROX. 1 YR. OLD. THE LOCAL PET STORE CAN ORDER A FEMALE FAT TAIL FOR ME. THE PROBLEM IS, SHE IS QUITE YOUNG. WILL THERE BE ANY AGGRESSION ON MY LIZARD'S PART TOWARDS THE FEMALE DUE TO THE AGE DIFFERENCE OR WILL IT BE SMOOTH SAILING? IF EVERYTHING IS OK, WHAT TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT DO I NEED FOR THE UP AND COMING FAMILY?

Hello Yvonne, I hope you are ready for the breeding and egg keeping and you have done all of your research about it? If not be sure you know that it is very stressful and the adult can die from mating and or laying. But all of that aside, you CANT tell the gender of a young lizard until it is sexually mature. I am sure that if she is a young lizard then they really have no guarantee its a female. If you want to find one that is more likely to be a female and around the same age as your male then here I will give you some links at the end of my answer. You need to remove the eggs when they are laid and incubate them (do your research) and hike up the temperature to the highest (safest) it can be. To increase the need for mating. (you have to make the breeding season) keep the lights on for 14 hours instead of normal 12 (it makes longer days for them) And that should get them in the mood make sure SHE has somewhere to hide and run from him because he can get very aggressive if he wants to mate and she isn't ready. So LOTS of space and give it time.
Now about finding a good female. You can go to a site like http://www.reptileauction.com (copy and paste the URL into your address bar) Then look for your lizard and place a bid. If you want something from perhaps a breeder then try http://www.repticzone.com It is a reptile Forum if you become a member go to the fat tail gecko section and ask if anybody has a female for sale. Another option is going to a place online that sells them like http://www.reptilesncritters.com and then have them ship it right to your door. Some of them let you choose gender like that site but make sure they say adult or something near adult and not baby or hatchling.  So that you know its a female.
