Leopard gekko

Question
My son left his gekko with me for a few weeks. I have been feeding him super worms and wax worms. The gekko is about 2 years old, 9 inches long. All the times he has visited previously, his poop has been one black nugget and one white. Now, the black part has turned brown. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Answer
Hi Judy,
Its most likely caused by feeding more wax worms than should be fed.  Wax worms are high in fat which can explain the lighter color.  Wax worms are known as the candy of the gecko foods... They should only be fed a few on occasion to prevent the possibility of fatty liver disease.  My girls enjoy a treat of 4-5 wax worms less than once a week.
