Dart Frogs

Question
Hi, I have a ten gallon terrarium that I have been growing some plants in.  However it seems empty and I was considering buying some dart frogs to put in it.  I don't know too much about dart frogs although i know they're not poisonous in captivity and you can fit about two in a ten gallon aquarium.  If you could provide me with some advice on how to care for dart frogs that would be helpful.  Also, do you know any places that sell dart frog eggs?

Thanks

Answer
Dear Alex,
thank you for your question.
A 10g is a bit small for poison dart frogs. I wouldn't house them in anything smaller than a 20g. Even though they are so small, they are very active and need a lot of room. Many species are also territorial and many like to climb, but a 10g has very little height, especially if you consider that the substrate takes up some of that.

There are many species of dart frogs and they all have different needs, so I can only give some general information. They usually need high humidity, 80% or more. Many species need bromeliads or other plants with broad leaves to lay their eggs, although many take any smooth surface. Some need running water, but all should have a little pool that's not too deep because they cannot swim very well. You wil need a constant supply of fruit flies and springtails, the bigger species will also feed in micro crickets. None of them will accept dead prey. Some species are better kept in paris, while some can live in groups with one male and several females or other constellations. Some species have an extremely loud call, but most call very quietly.
This website has some more general information and has some useful links:

It's best to decide on a species and then set up the enclosure. Setting up the enclosure a few weeks before getting the frogs will give you time to solve any problems that may come up, like humidity that's too low ect.
I hope I was of some help to you
