Question
QUESTION: hello,i wa just holding my leopard when he was knocked out of my hand onto the floor,he landed on his feet but as i moved to see him the wheel of the chair i was sitting on rolled over his toes, there is a small amount of bleeding and his toes look a bit squashed, hes a bit under the weather already as he is being treated for conjuctivitous,i have cleaned his toes with a cotton bud and warm water, what else do i do,could he have internal injuries? please help, thank you.

ANSWER:   He is in pain and I certainly can relate.  Years ago I had the back end of a fork-lift run over my own foot.  I went to a hospital, had an x-ray.  Even with the weight of a 5000 lb. counterweight, I only had a minor crush injury aand no broken bones.  Well, the same with your leo.  Have a vet take an x-ray.  This way he can tell you definitively if anything is broken, or if there is permanent damage.  Hopefully it will just be bruised.

QUESTION: Hello again, thanks for your reply, sorry to hear about your fork lift accident sounds like you were rather lucky really! about my Rusty's foot, ive just paid quite a bit of money on vet fees for his conjunctivitis %26 have been told xrays are expensive, what can they do if there are broken bones? is a xray nessaassary? he seems fine but obviously i dont want him to be in pain but im feeling the pinch!

Answer
We don't want to see our pets in pain.  Is he using the foot normally?  Is there any swelling?  And what about discoloration?
At this point, if there was a darkening of the foot, but now the color is normal, with no swelling, and he is using it normally, then he was just bruised.  A little Metacam would have been nice for the pain, but after 4 days a bruise usually starts clearing up.
