QuestionMy bearded dragon keeps laying on his back and has no energy. I just bought a new uvb bulb and i've been watching him closely he's been very sluggish i dont know what to do he barely eats. Is there something that i can do to get him to start eating again? Thanks
AnswerHello Jonathan,
Which UVB did you purchase, what brand is it? What type is it, a fluorescent tube bulb or a compact/coil light? What type of basking light do you use, a bright white light or a colored light currently?
How old is your dragon, & did you have a UVB light on him previously before you got this UVB light?
Are you supplementing calcium as well? If you are not using any calcium, I suggest you get some liquid calcium. I do sell some, if you would like to purchase it. At this point, his levels are most likely extremely low.
It is not a normal behavior for them to lay on their back. They can collapse a lung like that & cannot breathe well on their backs. So, he cannot right himself back to his tummy side?
It sounds like he has advanced metabolic bone disease.

Can you post a picture of him for me?
What types of foods do you feed him?
What type of basking light do you use, & what type of thermometer do you use? A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun? What are the temperatures in the tank?
