Ball Python Shedding

Question
It has been over a month since my snake started shedding. She had a bad shed, this time she shed her skin and lots of little pieces. The dead skin around her head and neck area are still there. Everywhere else the dead skin is gone. I tried placing wet paper towels around him cause I heard there might be a humidity problem. How can I get the rest of his dead skin off him and prepare for a successful shed next time?

Answer
It is most likely as you were informed.  Humidity in reptiles is often an overlooked subject when it comes to reptiles.  Aside from increasing the humidity you can also pour some vegetable oil into your hands and handle the snake rubbing the areas which still have skin attached and this should loosen the skin and will not harm the snake.  To increase humidity in the enclosure you can place the basking bulb over the water bowl and also spray the enclosure first thing in the morning and allow it to dry throughout the day.  I would also recommend reading the article on my site on Ball Pythons for further information on Captive Care.

Hope this helps
