My male pet rabbit

I recently got a male rabbit and I picked him up and noticed that his private part looked like it had a large red scap on it. Having never owned a rabbit before I didn't know if it was normal or not. I plan on taking him to the vet. soon, but I wanted to know if this is a problem I need to have looked at immediately. Thank you

Dear Stephanie,

A scab isn't normal, and should be examined by the vet.  If you got him only recently, I would wonder whether he was housed with other males, one of whom may have given him a nip in that delicate area (they do that, bad boys!).  If you don't see any sign of swelling or infection, it's probably not a major problem.  But do have the vet take a look, just to be safe.
