Bunny seizure? wont eat but drink water.

Question
Sat nite my bunny Bebe (male) suddenly bounced itself around violently in the cage came to sudden still looking like shocked. My aunt observed thought it could be either stroke or seizure. We took great care of this bunny, been healthy for 2 years. Since Saturday night it hasn't eaten its rabbit food, except does eat alfalfa and drinks water only. Noticed its posture & balance were off too. This morning I took it to the vet. I was told it may be hairball but I may have to ask 2nd opinion as I'm still not convinced. Today it still won't eat except alfalfa, seems to lean or lie down on one side. My aunt & I may have to force feed it using special puree blend of some veggies and special juice to cleanse its system. Its been resting alot still not himself. I'm afraid as if it's dying. It's my 6th bunny and I've took care of bunnies so long, the oldest one lived to be 14 or 15 yrs old.

Answer
Dear Vivi,

Don't go back to the "hairball" vet.  Please find a better one here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

I hope these articles will help:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/tilt.html

It could be any number of things, but the leaning on one sie and lack of balance suggests an ear infection or other problems as described in the "tilt" article above.  Please read it and get bunny to a *good* vet ASAP!
