My male rabbit, who needs to be fixed soon, will sit outside one of my females cage and pull her fur out(why she lets him is beyond me). She now has several bald spots, will the fur grow back? It is a bit crusty and flaky, after the initial scabbing has passed, with just tiny pieces of scab left. I also think I saw a flea run from that area when I reached in her cage and fluffed the bald spot to see if there was new hair growth, but I wasnt close enough to see for sure, just looked like something ran. I cant tell if theres new hair growth either, and her fur is so thick on her underside I couldnt have found a flea if my life depended on it.

You might want to comb her or treat her for fleas (Advantage or Revolution work well, do not ever use Frontline however).

But yes, the fur will grow back, how quickly depends on what cycle she is in.  If she is starting to shed, it may be several weeks til the new fur grows in.

Some rabbits when they fight pull fur, you sure that isn't what he is doing?

Before the male turned of age, they use to play together. He is just 6 months old now, and I had to make their playtime out of the cage seperate a couple months ago. She will be laying in her cage along the front of it and he will reach thru the bars and start yanking out mouthfuls. She doesnt move away. He also will do it to my OTHER female when HE is in his cage and she lays along the outside of HIS.(her cage doesnt permit him to reach her thru it) He was bonded with both girls before being seperated. I thought it was because of his hormones, as I have seen him grab mouthfuls of their back fur as he mounted them, (before he was seperated from them). Hes just a horn-bun, could it have something to do with part of the mating ritual? Thank you for your help

Answer
Well, that could be what he is trying to do, is to grab them and mount them.  If you get him neutered, he will quit doing that in about a month.  And he'd have to be separated from the females for a month just in case.

I have known boy bunnies to actually pluck their partner bare in an effort to get a good hold for their mating activities.
