baby bunnies all die now doe is pulling out her fur

I did not know my bunny was pregnant.  She gave birth to four and 3 were dead when I found them and 1 was alive.  I held the doe and the baby fed now it died.  The doe did not pull any fur but now after all the babies are dead she is pulling out her fur. Is that bizare?

Hi Linda,

You would think it was bizarre but some bunnies are just confused.  There is a possibility that she is still pregnant.  It is not unheard of for a rabbit to have a second litter a few days away from the first.  They have two uterine horns and it is possible for them to be pregnant in both.  We have seen rabbits have babies up to a week apart.  I would let her keep her nest and if she doesn't have babies within 2 weeks take it away.

I am sorry about the loss of the babies.  Unfortunately it happens more often than not.
