Question
QUESTION: they all ran away this morning but then i found them 2 hours later. I've separated them all and as soon as i separated them and put her in the hutch she started pulling at her fur.

ANSWER: Hi Hope. If your doe has a box with hay or straw and she is alone she should be OK. Don't bother her too much right now. Let her have time to have her babies and settle down. After the babies are a day or two old you can look in the nest and take out any that have died. Try not to bother her too much for the first couple of weeks. After that you can show your friends and everything should be alright. Just don't handle the little ones very much, they jump and can leap right out of your hands before you know what has happened. pat

QUESTION: so in the hutch theres a little part with hay in there do you think she will have them in there? And I'm not going to hold them for 3 or 4 weeks after she has them or maybe a bit before to check their gender. Do they make noises when their kindling? if not then how do you know shes had them if you don't go near the nest? This morning and this afternoon when i went to give her food and water she ran straight to the nest and she bit me which shes never ever done to me before!

ANSWER: Hi Hope. You should see fur piled up in the nest after the doe has had her young. You may see that she has pulled all the fur off the sides of her body. If she is being so aggressive right now I suggest that you not bother her any more than nescessary. Please be careful as they can bite really hard!   Pat

QUESTION: She has pulled a little bit of fur out but not much how do i feed her and so they make a noise when kindling? There was about 5cm of hay and then this morning there was only about 1 or 2cm of hay left cause she ate it all. She is getting really big nipples does that mean anything? Sometimes her belly is really tight and other times its just fat how far do you think she is?

Answer
Hi Hope. No rabbits usually do not make noise when they are kindling. She will need lots of rabbit pellets while she is feeding babies. Both she and the babies will need lots of hay to eat. It is very important for the babies to have hay. It keep their intestines working well and keeps them from getting tummy problems. Her big nipples probably means that she has milk comming in and she should have her babies soon. I can not tell you how far along she is but if she has pulled some fur I would say she is pretty close.  Let me know how many babies she has. Lots of luck with them. Pat
