Pus around the eyes :(

Question
Dear Expert,

for months now my rabbit has had sore looking eyes, we have brought her inside over the winter months and she lives in our living room in a cage. She has developed sore eyes and pus regularly collects around the eyes. Also most of the fur is missing around the eyes and does not seem to grow back.
She has been to the vet and completed a course of antibiotics, and more recently had an injection of some sort. However, she is still suffering. We are cleaning the eyes with eye wipes but would like more advice if possible? Do you think she should be living outside? We are in the UK and it is REALLY cold at the moment.

Finally, we have 2 cats in the household. Any help you can provide would be gratefully received.

Answer
Andy... If you can get some Combiotic Penicillin, (should be cheap and available, even in UK) place a cc in each eye, each day for a week. (Drop it on the surface of the eye with an eyedropper, like eye drops...That's all, do not obviously inject it. If you draw it out of the bottle with a needle on a syringe, just remove the needle from the syringe and use the syringe as though it were an eyedropper.)
I believe that the rabbit clearly is in an area that irritates her. I'd put her outside if she were mine. (The fur around the eyes will grow back. She can stand the cold, easily down to -10 C (about 10 F.). The things she should have as protection is three sides of the cage to be solid to break the wind, and a flat board for her to sit on, large enough to cover all of her underneath, so the wind doesn't get up under her and blow through the thinnner belly fur.  This should work. Cheers, SR
