Question
I have a Rabbit that I am not sure of it's gender, age, or it's past history. We adopted him last July, we had him outside during summer, fall, and late spring. But we brought him in this winter, he is currently living in our basement, which of course has some dust. I brought upstairs today, as I usually do, his hind leg isn't being used correctly, and one of his front legs has peeling of the skin and fur and is bleeding. He's been itching, and started rolling around twitching and peeing and pooping uncontrollably. He is currently in front of me, he rolls up his front legs and uses his elbows to walk, but he barely walks. He is also doing a head twitch, and in the past 15 minutes has pooped 15 times. Do you know anything? We are going to call a vet tomorrow, but is there anything you can give us advice to do.

Answer
Hi,

you need to get him to a vet immediately, he is experiencing nerve damage from a parasite or virus or infection damaging nerves/brain.  Walking on elbows like that is a symptom.  Head tilt is also classic symptom.  Motor problems with hind legs are classic symptoms.

You need to get him in immediately because if you don't you run the risk some of the damage occurring will be permanent.

to find a rabbit vet around you go here:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

to find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.

Get him in immediately.  Like as soon as you find a vet and call them.
