lop eared needs mate?

Question
hello...i have a rather young lop.  i don't know the breed (specific), since i live in poland and just happened to buy him at the local store.  anyhow, he is approximately 5 months old.  he's really good.  he's a house rabbit and only occassionally (spelling?) poops outside of his litter box.  but, i've been trying to find out more information about caring for lops.  one site seemed to always put a lop with a mate.  are they particular rabbits that need to be with mates?  i have a bird, and they seem to be pals.  anyhow...i guess i would liketo know if he needs a mate or not.  and, some general information on how to care for him.  if you also have some idea how to potty train him completely, that'd be great.  he's never once had a pee accident.  only sometimes has he pooped.  thanks for your help.  brooke

Answer
Whether or not he needs a buddy depends on how much time you spend with him.  If it's several hours a day, he may be perfectly happy with you and the bird.  If he's alone most of the day, a friend might be a good idea.

You might find this information useful on diet, littertraining, etc. - http://www.rabbit.org/care/new-bunny-index.html  This site has lots of other information about rabbit care.

Caring for a lop is pretty much the same as caring for any other rabbit.

Good luck!
