Housing Indoors

Question
At the moment my rabbits live in an outdoor shed in the garden.  I would like to bring them indoors, I know this is best for them - health, socialisation etc.  However, the other members of my household don't agree with this.  The only reason they have actually given me is 'there's nowhere for them to go', but that's not true.  I have tried many times to persuade them, but they just get annoyed with me.  How can I persuade them?  Where is the best place to put a cage?  Have you any other additional useful info about keeping indoor rabbits?

Answer
Dear Dani,

Rabbits are much safer inside than outdoors, of course.  Predators, the elements, and disease--not to mention less time for the caregiver to monitor health and behavior--are all problems for outdoor rabbits.

Our rabbits are actually not caged at all.  They run free, as would a dog or cat.  They're litterbox trained, and as much members of the family as the humans.  :)  But before you get to that stage, you'll need some tips, and here are some good ones:

For a great overview of all the necessary information for houserabbit care (litterbox training, spay/neuter, bunny-proofing, etc.), go here:

Where a cage would go is up to you, but since your roommates object, then perhaps your own bedroom would be the best and safest place.

I hope this helps get you started!
