QuestionI have a 6 month old bunny with only one testical descended. is there anyway to encourage the other one? thank you, Julie
AnswerDear Julie,
There's no good way I know to get an cryptorchid to descend, and if it's not down by this age, it might be wise to consult a good, rabbit-experienced veterinarian about neutering:
www.rabbit.org/vets
A crytorchid is more likely to become cancerous than a descended testicle: testicular tissue is not "designed" to live at the high temperature inside the body, and more carcinogenic mutations are likely to accumulate in a cryptorchid. It's safer for him if both testicles are removed.
It's a good idea to have a vet who is experienced with this procedure. Rabbit cryptorchids can be *very* small and hard to find.
Once he's neutered, you can let him choose a spayed mate from among those at your local rabbit rescuer's foster home! ;) )

I hope this helps.
