False Pregnancy in our meat rabbit

We bred our californian for my 4h project when she did not take I tried breeding her again,she was supposed to have her babies on the 22 of july it is today the 27th two days ago she has pulled her hair and built a nest but nothing has happened yet every time I touch her she clucks like a chicken, is there something wrong or is she having a false pregnancy? The weather has been really warm and my mom said she maybe did not want to have her babies in 104 degree weather can rabbits hold off until it cools down and do the babies grow until they are to big for her to have them? Please help me ! Nicole

Five days late is a lot Nicole.  She could be having a false pregnancy, or due to the heat she might have reabsorbed the litter.  I would put her with a buck - if she has a kit stuck the stimulous might unstick it, if she is not PG then it is time to get her PG or she will get to fat, Tho 104 is way to high for a rabbits comfort !  I hope you have her well ventilated and with a frozen bottle of water at all times.  It also helps to put some ice in her water.  Poor bunnies have thick fur coats they cannot take off !
