my 7 month old rabbit

Question
My rabbit has pasturella and the vet "holds no hope" for her.  She survived it in her eye and head 2 months ago.  However, it has shown up again.  She is on Amackin(sp?) 8cc twice a day.  Do you have any thing you could help me with on this.  She is the sweetest.  She came from the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary/Great Reno Rabbit Rescue.  I took 6 of the precious bunnies.  Thank you in advance.  Anna

Answer
Dear Anna,

Thank you for helping Best Friends with their terrible bunny situation.

How was this "Pasteurella" diagnosed?  And what are her symptoms?  Jaw abscess?  Upper respiratory infection?  Other type of abscess?  The manifestation of the disease is important in determining how treatable it is.

Also, was a culture and sensitivity test ever done on the infected tissue?  Please read the following articles for more information, and then write back to me if you have additional questions:

You can find a listing of rabbit-savvy vets to get a second opinion here:

I hope this helps.
