rex rabbit fur loss

Hi, I just recently purchased 2 rex rabbits , one of them has hair loss down her whole back.The person I purchased them from said he thought it might have been caused by the mother rabbit, nawing on it. Does this sound reasonable? thanks for any information you can give me. Linda

It is possible, because I have actually had a female to pull fur from her own kits before. You may want to check into treating for fur mites. If the skin is dry/flaky it is likely mites. A vet can give you a subsitiute for rabbit mites because not many medications out there are made just for rabbits.
