Dominance Problems

Question
I own 2 dwarf lop rabbits (one male, one female- both neutered)  and the female is very cleary the dominant one of the 2.  She is always nipping my male rabbit, who just sits there and takes it, I can tell that i hurts him sometimes by the way he flinches (especially if she has nipped his face).  Also, she bites me whenever I hold/carry her, but is fine with me when on ground level.  This is becoming very difficult as I can't even carry her to her run for daily exercise without her trying to bite me.  What can I do to calm her down?

Answer
Dear Dani,

Your bunny may always have a dominant personality, but having her spayed should help calm her down and keep her from being so vicious with you and the male bunny as she might have been otherwise.  Some bunnies just have a "bitey" personality.  But you can help curb her aggression with the tips found in the articles here:

Be sure the bunnies have a *very* large space to run in, if one is this dominant/domineering.  The male may not have enough room to get away, and this will harm him not only physically, but psychologically/emotionally.  Please be sure he has a refuge to escape her unwanted attentions.

I hope the articles on the web site above will help restore harmony to your bunny family soon.

Take care,
Dana
