Balding Ears?

22 11:21:10

Question
I have a mini-lop who is around 8 years old. (May be a little older or younger, I adopted her about 6 years ago)

Her ears appear to be balding - the fur is getting thinner and more sparse. The skin under it does not appear red or damaged in any way. The inside of her ears seem fine as well.

She lives indoors during the winter and outside during the summer. (Hutch with fenced area to run around in during the day.) She has been very active since she has been outside this year, digging herself a large burrow.

I also have two other rabbits, but I keep them seperated from her because she can get aggressive with them.

She's kind of thin but has been eatting fine.

Could this be just because of her age or is there something wrong with her? If I have let anything out you need to know, please let me know. =/

Answer
Dear Noelle,

The thinning hair *might* be due to aging, but it also could be due to fur mites.  Please see:

In any case, it wouldn't hurt to ask the vet about getting some Revolution for her.  It might not work, but I'm betting it will.  Sometimes even a slight mite problem can make the hair fall out.

Hope this helps.
