Question
hello, i was wondering if you had any tips on how to litter and leash train a bunny.i have a bunny harnes/leash for her that i put on her when i take her outside(she loves grass) and she walks on it only if its the direction SHE wants to go if i try to get her to walk with me she throws a fit. and as for the litter part i havent been able to get an actual litter box and the right kind of litter yet but im trying to teach her to go only in her cage. she loves to run around the house and is out of her cage mostly all day.(if someone is home to watch her) she is a smart rabbit we have 2 cats and a small dog and she fits right in :). shes also about 2-3 months old. anyways if you have any suggestions for me that would be great. thanx :)

Answer
Well the thing about rabbits that are leashed trained, you have to follow them.  They really can't be trained to follow you unfortunately.  I would love it if my rabbits would follow me like a dog does, but the truth is they have a 3 second memory span.  They learn things like litter training and to beg for treats by repetition.  I don't think they really know they are using the litter pan but just that is there special place to poop.

Here is a site about litter training and it even shows ways to train tough to teach bunnies.  If you have an old baking pan they work very well for litter training or you could just use her whole cage as the litter box.

Just read the article and it should help you.

Good luck
