Question
Hello. My daughter raises Californian's for 4H. We have noticed that one of her does has a strong, musty smell (almost like arm pits). What is the cause of this and how can we get rid of it?

Also, she constantly has sore hocks. We let her out of the cage often to get a break from the cage wire, but it doesn't seem to help. We also placed a small square of sheetrock in the cage for her to lay on, but then she became caked in feces and ended up with infections, sores and a fly problem.

This rabbit is a mess. Any suggestions?

Answer
hi Theresa try washing her.
wash her in warm soapy water then rinse in warm clear water
finally dry her with a warm hair dryer it should work
rabbits need a sold floor with soft material to prevent sore hocks
all mine have this and in each cage there is 1" of sawdust this way i have no fear of sore hocks.
Dave.
