Rabbits: advice on talking to vets

Question
hi there,

Well its time for my mother bunny 3 years old, to get spayed. She is still
bonded to one of her babies and id like to keep it that way, but the vet is
insistent on only taking one rabbit in the day and night after the surgery and
wont board them together for that time. I have 3 bunnies total and am
already dealing with a segregated family ( recall broken foot baby)  I dont
know what id do if i have to house all rabbits in seperate cages as i simply
dont have the room in my appt for this. The mom and daughter are free
house rabbits.

Could you give me some advice as to what to say to these vets to make
them reconsider their stance on bonded bunnies? And maybe  some advice
on how to deal with this situation to lessen the chance of breaking the bond?
thank you sooo much!

Answer
Dear Lauren,

I'm not sure what you could say to these vets to make them change their mind.  If they are adamant and have the old "I'm the vet and I know best" attitude, then it might be best to find a different vet who will be more agreeable to your wishes (and know what's better for the bunnies, as you do!).

I hope you can find a better vet here:

You can't force a vet to change his/her hospital policies.  But you can take your business elsewhere, and then perhaps make it clear to the original vet why you did so--in a polite letter.

I hope this helps.
