puppy tooth

i have a 5 month old mini dacshund and my nephew was playing with her with her pull toy and when he was one of my puppys teeth came out. will another tooth grow in? please let me know. thank you

Dear Millie,

Like most mammals, dogs have deciduous "baby teeth" that are replaced by adult teeth as the animal matures.  There's only one set, though.  If the tooth that fell out was an adult tooth, then it will not re-grow.  If it was a baby tooth, then a new adult tooth will replace it.

At your puppy's age, he probably lost a baby tooth. But an examination by your vet would allow the vet to confirm this.
