Question
I took my rabbit to the vet because I came home and saw he was dragging his foot.  The vet said he broke his joint and there is nothing that can be done. She didnt take an x-ray or anything. Is this true?  Rabbits can't grow one back?

Answer
Hi Ling,

your vet is not a good rabbit vet, the answer he gave you (without even examining it) may or may not be right.  Just to tell you "Nothing can be done" without examining it is not good practice.

You need to find a good rabbit vet, to get it examined and list options on what to do, and also to get your rabbit some pain medicine to minimize his pain.

Go here:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

and find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.  If you are not in the USA, they have links to international listings of rabbit vets around the world.

If you have any Arnica Montana pills available (homeopathic pain medicine) - generally they are litte sugar pills infused with Arnica Montana - give him 2-3 every 4-6 hours until you can get to a good rabbit vet.  Make sure you tell the vet you've been giving him that and for how long.
