1 Netherland Dwarf kit

Question
Our bunnies just had their first litter.  Only 1 kit.  I thought this was rather unusual.  The kit has been growing and has probobly doubled in size.  She is 8 days old.  Today I noticed she had a crusty yellow-orange discharge from her bottom.  Should i clean it off?  Is she sick?

Answer
Dear Christen,

Without seeing the discharge, I can't tell whether it's urine or fecal matter.  If the latter, it could be very serious.  If you see any sign of diarrhea, then please print this:

and get the baby (with mama) to a rabbit vet ASAP for emergency treatment:

The baby should be nursing from mama for a full eight weeks before being weaned, as this will give her the best chance at survival and health without GI tract problems, which are very common in hand-raised baby rabbits.

I hope this helps.
