carrots!

Dear Dana,
        My two bunnies just love carrots. They seem to be sad the day i don't give them carrots to munch on. I've read that carrots are treats and should be used sparingly. Is it ok to give carrots to my buns everyday? They are very picky about the fruits they eat and will only eat a small amount, like a few bites will do for them.Carrots are their fav hands down:)

It's such a cliche, but rabbits sure do love carrots!

I know everyone says not to give them every day, and to use them only as treats.   But we give carrots to ours every day, or there would be mutiny!  As long as you see no sign of cecal dysbiosis (runny/mushy stool):

or any sign that the bunnies are getting too pudgy (carrots are high in digestible sugars and starches), then I really wouldn't worry about giving them a daily carrot treat.  Every rabbit has different tolerances for starch, and if your bunnies don't get other types of starchy treat, their risk of problems from carrots are probably not going to be major.
