Urgent q. about corn hygiene pellets

Question
Dear Dr Krempels,

I just bought my bunny some corn hygiene pellets. These are his 'toilet' pellets, but the problem is he likes the scent I guess and wants to eat them like food.

I have already removed them for safety reasons, but is it ok to put them back - how much damage can they cause if he keeps eating them, can he die from blockage?

Thanks a lot!

Answer
Dear Ana,

I would not put them back.  If he is eating them, it could cause a major problem.  Corn contains an indigestible polysaccharide that can cause blockages.  Better to be safe and find a different kind of litter for your bunny.

Hope this helps.
